Both Bawumia, Adongo wasted our precious time; peddled half-truths – IMANI

Policy think-tank IMANI Africa has said both Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and NDC MP Isaac Adongo “wasted precious time” by peddling truths and half-truths to the Ghanaian public.

This is according to founding President of IMANI Franklin Cudjoe, who is calling for the bar to be lifted in order for Ghana to compare itself to International economic indexes.

“Heard the two set of politicians. They simply wasted our time with truths and half truths we already know. None raised the bar on where we should be. We must aim to compare ourselves with highly effective countries.” he wrote.

“Just take a look at all international economic indexes amd see what we are comparing ourselves to, not Charliewote and Boots. Certainly not Bolgatanga Enron and Walewale Adam Smith. Raise the bar.” ye added.

Analysing some data presented by Vice President Dr Bawumia,l during the Townhall, Mr Cudjoe had this to say

“Another chart from today’s town hall meeting. NDC’s overall GDP was 3.4% in 2016. However their non-oil growth was 4.6 % in 2016. Notice however that in 2017 NPP reported an overall GDP, including oil of 8.1% but non-oil growth remained 4.6 % same as NDC ‘s in 2016. Which NPP initiated policy in 2017 was responsible for the oil sector growth that accounted for the stellar growth in 8.1%? Curiously, if there was such stellar policy in 2017, we should be seeing incremental growth in 2018 instead of a downward trajectory to 5.6%? I’m just asking questions ooo. Still checking the charts.”

Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia touted government’s economic performance at the town hall meeting held on Wednesday. He touched on the economy, the cedi depreciation, recent power outages among others.

The meeting allowed Ghanaians to also ask the economic management team questions bothering them.

The townhall was countered by the NDC in a presentation led by NDC MP Isaac Adongo among others.
