Some residents of Kasoa nearly lynched some Chinese contractors after the rock blast incident on the Buduburam stretch of the Accra-Winneba Highway on Monday, October 14, 2024, which reportedly killed at least four people.
The residents accused the contractor of not giving them prior notice of the blast as they have done in the past to enable them to move out of harm's way.
They said that the contractors normally send vans through the community to inform them of the blasting of rocks, but this time around, no information was given to them.
A viral video shows residents manhandling two Chinese contractors they apprehended as they were reportedly leading them to the chief of the community.
Some of the residents, who were wielding all kinds of weapons, wanted to beat up the Chinese contractors but were stopped by others, who could be heard urging them not to touch the contractors.
One of the contractors was, however, unfortunate as he received a big blow to his head from one of the residents.
The video showed one of the residents smashing the head of the contractor with a huge piece of wood.
Even though the contractor was wearing a helmet, the impact of the hit was so great that it threw him to the ground in agony.
