The National Democratic Congress (NDC) invested heavily in preparation and strategy for the December 7 elections, according to its Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Dr. Boamah detailed the scale of the party’s efforts, from training thousands of agents to using advanced analytics that projected victory well ahead of the official results.

“I personally trained all 47 constituency trainers in the Ashanti Region,” Dr. Boamah shared, emphasizing the grassroots approach to ensuring preparedness across the country.

“Other members traveled across the country to train others. By the time the national trainers completed the first phase, we had embedded trainers available to address questions and provide additional guidance.”

The NDC’s strategy included training 153,000 individuals to ensure smooth electoral operations.

However, challenges with agent deployment arose, impacting polling station coverage. “Some polling stations had as many as four agents, while others had none,” Dr. Boamah explained. “Although 87,000 agents were sufficient on average, distribution gaps persisted.”

The party’s meticulous planning extended beyond personnel training to real-time election analysis. Dr. Boamah revealed that the NDC relied on data to monitor the voting process and predict outcomes.

“Initially, we expected to achieve 85% collation by 11:30 PM,” he said. “But by 7 PM, we knew we had won the elections based on our analytics.

By that time, we had collated results from 20,000 polling stations and calculated the variance between Mahama’s and Bawumia’s performances. The data showed a strong trend in our favor.”

The use of analytics to predict results underscored the NDC’s reliance on technology and strategy in its electoral approach.

Dr. Boamah highlighted the importance of this preparation, explaining how it gave the party confidence during the critical hours of vote counting. “By 7 PM, our data told a story that reflected the will of the people,” he noted.
