The 2nd deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin says he believes posterity will prove the minority in Parliament right over its streak of corruption allegations that have been overruled by Parliament and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

His comment follows the report from the committee set up by Parliament to investigate the cash-for-seat-saga.

The committee’s report found no evidence that the Trade Ministry exploited the presidency and the integrity of government for the profiting of the organiser of the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards – the Millennium Excellence Foundation (MEF).

The committee also described as baseless and unfounded claims that monies were extorted from the expatriates who were supposed to pay between twenty five thousand dollars and a hundred thousand dollars depending on how close their tables were, to the president’s gold table.

The committee also relied on the integrity of the chairman of the Foundation Ambassador Victor Gbeho to believe that the President as stated in the invitation to the expatriates was actually the President of the MEF Ashim Morton and not the President of the republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The minority staged a walk out of Parliament when the report was laid before the house for adoption, insisting that inputs from the members of the minority were not captured in the report on grounds of technicalities, an assertion the majority has blatantly refuted.

This will not be the first time the minority’s arguments have fallen flat considering the BOST contaminated fuel which was shot down by the BNI, the Boakye Agyarko Bribery Saga which was thrown out by a parliamentary committee and the Ken Ofori Atta 2.25 billion dollars bond which is still under contention.

But the 2nd Speaker of the august house and the longest serving Member of Parliament, Alban Bagbin contends there is an unravelled truth in the claims by the minority.

Speaking exclusively to Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, Mr Bagbin lamented, “this issue of clearance, I don’t know where it is coming from and there are a lot of things still hanging but I know posterity will judge all of us and at the end of the day the truth will always come out. Because like a cock, you cannot immerse it in water.”

Making reference to a few of the impasses, Alban Bagbin recounted “A number of instances have been cited and those areas are too deep we will need to produce more evidence. The Mahama Ayariga case was a cause for vigilance and that case was quite mysterious because two friends came out with the issue. For who spoke the truth, the verdict is outside there.”

“When you talk about the Ken Bond Saga clearly when you read the report of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, the minister of finance has been indicted on many areas. If he had been cleared of any wrong doing, he wouldn’t have gone to court to challenge the findings.”

Making a clarion call on politicians, the law maker urged, “politicians must as much as possible be truthful, honest, stay clean and try to claw back the lost trust that our followers have in us. That is what can save Ghana.”
