The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Ghana’s newly inaugurated President, John Dramani Mahama, and the first-ever female Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

In a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, the renowned think tank said the historic inauguration on January 7, 2025, marks a monumental moment for the country because it symbolizes Ghana’s unwavering commitment to inclusive leadership, democracy, and gender equality.

The election of Professor Opoku-Agyemang as Vice President represents a trailblazing step towards greater gender equity in politics, inspiring hope for a more inclusive and fair future.

The CSJ stated that the appointment of Ghana’s first female Vice President is a powerful symbol of progress, breaking long-standing barriers and paving the way for future generations of women leaders in Africa.

"This achievement is not just a celebration of individual accomplishment but a resounding statement on the importance of empowering women in leadership positions to drive change and influence policy for the betterment of society," the think tank said in the statement.

"As advocates for social justice, we urge the new administration to prioritize policies that address inequality, uphold human rights, and promote inclusive development," CSJ admonished the incoming administration.

For years, the CSJ has remained committed to supporting the government’s efforts in advancing initiatives that benefit all Ghanaians, especially the marginalized and underserved communities.

The CSJ said it looks forward to collaborating with the new leadership to build a society where these core values are upheld, and progress is achieved for all.
