Ghanaian superstar Michael Essien joined his former Chelsea teammate Ashley Cole to give fans of the Premier League champions in New York a treat on Saturday when they arrived for a viewing of the Liverpool game with the Premier League trophy in hand.
The former Blues joined supporters on a specially Chelsea-branded bus before transporting to NBC’s South Street Seaport viewing party in Manhattan, posing for plenty of photos along the way.
The pair spoke about what it’s like to play at Anfield and gave their pre-match predictions (both anticipating narrow Chelsea wins) before settling down to enjoy the game among an army of fellow Blues.
While there, they also helped out Chelsea Foundation coaches, putting on sessions for kids, before joining some bigger kids, former Premier League players Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe, now NBC pundits for a kickabout where they both showed they can still cut the mustard!
