Melcom Group of Companies is demanding justice in the case involving Director of Kinsadus Company, Nana Kwesi Boadu, owner of the collapsed building that housed the Old Achimota Melcom.

Five years after the tragedy that claimed several lives, the foreign investor has disclosed that several attempts to get copies of the investigative report from the committee set up by the government to handle the issue have proved futile.

Director of Communications of Melcom Ghana, Godwin Avenorgbo, addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday, expressed disappointment at the state agencies for failing to make public their investigations on the matter.

Mr. Avenorgbo explained that the publication of the report is necessary because it will provide evidence to enable the court to prosecute and serve justice so as to prevent future occurrence of similar cases.

“Melcom as an investor creating jobs in Ghana is concerned that not a single investigative report on the collapse of that property owned by Nana Kwesi Boadu, Director of Kinsadus Company has been released,” he observed.

He said, as an investor, Melcom has strictly operated within the laws of Ghana and must in turn be protected to ensure that it runs it businesses smoothly.

“Melcom as an investor operates within the laws of Ghana and we expect that the same law should protect our investment as security and incentive for growing our business for the larger benefit of the economy. The support and protection that the local investor enjoys invariably serves as a catalyst to whip up interest in external investors,” he maintained.

Mr. Avenorgbo, therefore, called on the agencies to “fast track their processes and procedures to bring justice to bear and finality to the case” as “five years of waiting is more than enough”.
