Government says it deserves commendation for freely allowing the election petition hearing to proceed without any interference.
Deputy Information Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed said the development is an indication that the National Democratic Congress administration is one that respects the rule of law.
Speaking to journalists at the daily media briefing at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, Mr. Ibrahim said: "What is important is our belief and our respect for rule of law and allowing rule of law to thrive at all times...and I think we need to commend this government."
The deputy minister, however, said the determination of the case paves the way for government to fully continue and deliver on its "Better Ghana Agenda" promise.
In a related development, the committee set up by the New Patriotic Party to analyze the Supreme Court judgment on the election petition says it is early days yet to tell whether the party would be seeking a review of the judgment.
The party has given the committee the task to examine and advice it on the way forward.
General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, told Adom TV on Monday that the party will seek a review of the Supreme Court ruling dismissing the petition filed by the their 2012 flagbearer challenging the results of the presidential elections.
But member of the Committee, Joseph Ayikoi-Otoo told Joy News they are awaiting the release of the full judgment by the court so they can start work.
Mr. Ayikoi-Otoo said the committee cannot make valid suggestion relating to whether or not the party should proceed for a review of the judgment.
