Nasim Ibrahim, a junior brother of late Musah Seidu, one of the seven alleged armed robbers shot dead by the police at Manso Nkwanta, has said that information they have gathered suggest that the police arrested, handcuffed and shot their relatives in the bush.

Contrary to claims by Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Akwasi Mensah Duku that the police only returned fire after being at the receiving end of gunfire from the seven deceased suspects, Ibrahim, told Class 91.3FM’s Valentina Ofori Afriyie on the 505 news programme on Wednesday, 18 July 2018 that they have been told that the seven were “arrested, handcuffed and shot” by the officers in the forest, adding: “They were not armed”, as the police account suggests.

Nasim accused the police of “covering up” their crime, stressing that the murder of the seven was “contract killing”.

According to him, his late brother was a bodyguard and one of the private security persons for the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ibrahim said the Toyota Corolla with registration number BA 294 – 15 which was used by the deceased at the time of the incident, belongs to the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, explaining that the seven were on errand for the MCE, thus, refuted claims by the MCE that his late brother was not his bodyguard.

Nasim called on the NPP to speak the truth about the matter, adding that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly call Chairman Wontumi, could testify to his assertion that his late brother was a security personnel for the party.

He wants justice for his brother, popularly called Baban Kande, who left behind five children and a widow.

The deceased was part of a suspected armed robbery gang whose members were killed on Tuesday, 17 July 2018 as they went on an alleged heist.
