Coronavirus: Ghana Institute of Journalism moves to online teaching and learning

Academic activities at the Ghana Institute of Journalism will now be undertaken online following a directive from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that all universities should close down until further notice.

This decision was taken at an emergency management meeting on Monday, March 16th, 2020.

At the meeting, it was decided that the school will go on a one-month recess effective Tuesday, March 17.

It also concluded that necessary arrangements be made by academic staff for teaching and learning to continue

“To ensure that academic work continues, it has been decided that all Academic Staff should put in place the necessary arrangements to ensure that teaching and learning is conducted online (email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google classroom, etc). We are happy to inform all students that academic staff have complied with this directive and will be teaching online over the period,” part of the statement reads.

Some universities in the country have moved to online teaching and learning following President Akufo-Addo’s order.

Among them are the University of Professional Studies, Accra and Ashesi University.
