A Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Justice William Boampong, has sentenced four confessed armed robbers to a total of 280 years imprisonment, in hard labour.

Frank Agyare, Eric Yeboah, Lawrence Prempeh and Philip Yaw Asante, alias “Agatha,” all unemployed, and between 18 and 20 years, attacked their victim and seized cash of GH¢2,500.00, a cellular phone, and other valuables on April 24, at Krofrom, Kumasi.

They were charged with conspiracy and robbery, and they pleaded guilty.

Their accomplice, whose name was only given as Akyere, is on the run.

Police Inspector Gulliver Tenkorang told the Court that, the victim, Gawusu Laminuof, is a trader at Suame, but lives at Krofrom.

He had closed from work and was returning to the house at about 2200 hours, when the convicts armed with guns and other offensive weapons, robbed him of his money and other valuables.

The next day, at about 2230 hours, he chanced upon Agyare at the Tafo Cemetery area, carrying a hand bag the robbers had seized from him the previous night; raised the alarm, and he was arrested with the help of other people.

The prosecution said the convict was sent to the CPC Police Station, where he maintained his innocence, and insisted that he bought the bag from Asante.

He led the police to arrest Asante, Yeboah, and Prempeh. They all admitted the crime in their caution statement, but said they seized GH¢500.00 but not GH¢2,500.00 from the victim.
