The Director of Communications of embattled gold dealership firm Menzgold, Nii Armah Amarteifio has dismissed reports suggesting that the company’s ongoing validation process for customers is a decoy to distract the pending court case.
Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Nii Armah intimated that the legal battle should not impede the payment of customers’ locked-up funds.
“We have solid defence to mount when we have our day in court. We have a problem to solve. The case can still go on in court, while we initiate process to get our customers paid,” he told sit-in host Akwasi Nsiah.
Hundreds of customers of the troubled gold dealer, Menzgold, on Monday, massed up at the Kumasi and Accra offices of the firm, to validate their claims documents.
Menzgold in a statement last week announced the process of verifying claim documents from customers as part of an elaborate process to settle their locked-up funds.
The month-long document validation process which started on October 28 ends on November 28, 2019.
Meanwhile, Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah is still on his bail bond of GH¢1billion with five sureties.
Nana Appiah has pleaded not guilty to all 13 charges levelled against him by the state.
He was charged with abetment of crime, defrauding by false pretences, carrying on a deposit-taking business without license, sale of minerals without license, unlawful deposit-taking, and money laundering.
