Tamale, July 11, GNA - The Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani, on Monday commended the Northern Region Security Council for the relative calm in Dagbon.

He described as "commendable" the calm and peace before, during and after the burial of the late King, and his enskinment as a Regent. "I am happy with the security given me in Yendi, and during my visit to Tamale, as well as the general calm in Dagbon.

"I pray that continuous peace would now engulf Dagbon so that the place would be conducive for all", he said.

The Regent gave the commendation on Monday when the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Iddris paid a courtesy call on him in Tamale.

The Minister's visit was to welcome the Regent to Tamale, wish him a happy stay and also to assure him of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council's (NRCC) co-operation.

The Regent said the entire country had prayed with Dagbon for peace, and expressed the hope that the current peace would be sustained for development of the region.

"I therefore wish to commend the Regional Minister and the Security Council for the role they played to chalk this success of peace in the region and I will give them my fullest co-operation", he said. Alhaji Ali Iddris said peace was the cardinal point for development in every nation and called on all to eschew violence and petty squabbles and rather forge ahead in unity for the development of the region.
