The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is demanding for further and better particulars from Joy Fm’s investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni to substantiate claims the is linked to the party is training of a militant group, De-Eye Group at the Christiansborg Castle in the wake of calls by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the disbandment of other vigilante groups in the country, MyNewsGh.com.
A documentary aired on Joy News last Thursday, revealed the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) militia group De-Eye Group is led by one Nana Wireko Addo, popularly known as ‘Choman’ a former personal bodyguard of then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo is using the place as a training base.
There have been conflicting reports from government sources as to its links to the group and under whose authority the place was used for that purpose with the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and colleague ministers on a collision course.
Reacting to the Joy News investigation that reveals the existence of a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) militia that trains in the top government security facility, Deputy General Secretary of the ruling party, Nana Obiri Boahene disbelieved the work of the investigative journalist.
“Let Manasseh Azuri Awuni provide further and better particulars of his investigations; whom did he speak to from the Interior Ministry? …Which correspondent did he write to seek to clarification?” the private legal practitioner quizzed on Nhyira FM morning show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
He added “Look, don’t let us believe what Manasseh Azure has shown is true. We should compel him to bring better and further particulars”, Nana Obiri Boahen told host, Papa Nyameke.
