Denkyira-Obuase residents have killed our joy - Major Mahama’s kinsmen

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, Hon Veronica Alele Herming says the people of Bole have had their joy stripped following the gruesome murder of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama who traces his roots to the area.

She observed that her kinsmen have forgiven residents of Denkyira Obuasi especially those who took part in the dastardly act but one thing remains indisputable, they will never forget circumstances leading to the gruesome murder of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.

Hon Veronica Alele Herming who was speaking at the final funeral rites of the late army Major in Bole, described the act of the lynching as unfair and prays it never befalls any citizen.

The emotionally charged DCE joined calls by many Ghanaians to end mob Injustice in the country stating that “we can only forgive them will never forget what happened”.

The final funeral rites of the late Major Maxwell Adama Mahama was performed in Bole, his hometown where scores of people from all walks of life trooped in to pay their last respect to the fallen hero.

Leading the government delegation and the Military High Command, Deputy Minister for Defense and Member of Parliament for the Nkoranza North Constituency, Hon Major Derick Oduro (Rtd), stressed government’s commitment to honour the request by the family of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama to build a monument in honor of the late Soldier.

Hon Derick Oduro emphasized that” never should this act repeat itself. We are not only committed to building the monument but we are going to make sure it symbolizes the end to mob Injustice in Ghana”

The family of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama expressed their profound gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Arm Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for giving their son a state burial, establishing a fund with seed money of GHS500,000 plus his personal donation of GHS 50,000 and accepting to build a monument in honour of the late Major.

They thanked the People of Ghana and all those who supported them in these trying times saying “we are truly grateful for your support all this while and May the almighty God continue to bless you”
