Nana Soglo Alloh IV, the President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, has cautioned traditional rulers in the Region against the endorsement of political parties and candidates.
Nana Soglo said this in an inaugural address as the new President of the House of Chiefs, at a swearing in and handing over ceremony.
Nana Soglo took over from Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, who led the House for eight years.
He urged the political parties and the candidates to conduct their campaigns peacefully to consolidate the country’s democracy.
Nana Soglo urged the electorate to go out on Election Day to exercise their franchise.
On his responsibilities, he promised to ensure that all members of the House had traditional councils by the end of his first four-year term.
Togbe Afede congratulated Nana Soglo on his election, and said he had handed over the House to him, “more united, resourced and effective,” and called for support from all members for a successful tenure.
Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, the Paramount Chief of Anfoega, was also sworn-in as the new Vice President of the House.
