Don’t impose CSE, we won’t conform – Duncan-Williams

The founder and General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has said Ghanaians and Christians will not accept the forced introduction of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in basic schools.

Religious bodies, the Minority in Parliament, civil society organisations and Ghanaians, in general, have accused the government of attempting to use CSE as a subtle way of exposing children to LGBTQI issues.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams, on Friday, 4 October 2019, said he has glanced through the CSE document but has not studied the material into detail.

The preacher said: “I think that they shouldn’t impose that [CSE] on us. We are not going to conform to the standards of this world and what they call sex education if it violates our belief system, we will not conform to that”.

In his opinion, “Parents must take responsibility when it comes to sex education. We shouldn’t leave it to the world or the school to teach our kids sex education. We have to teach them based on the rules of our kingdom (Christendom) and we should not allow the world to impose their method or principle of sex education and I think that we should watch that very carefully”.

Asked by Accra-based Joy FM’s morning show host Daniel Dadzie on Friday, 4 October 2019 if the country should stick to past norms and not adopt the introduction of CSE due to the intense controversy surrounding it, Archbishop Duncan-Williams responded: “I will subscribe to that. We have to be very careful, especially a society here, in some of the things that come from other countries”.
