As the general elections draw closer, managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has cautioned Ghanaians to be on the watch and not give room for politicians to persuade them to be on their side to win the elections for their selfish gains.

He advised Ghanaians to vote for a candidate who would utilise the country’s resources to the brim for the betterment of the country rather than voting for a candidate based on ethnical lines.

Making this daring comments a lecture series to mark Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s overthrow at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Mr Pratt said “We are going to go into another election. Don’t let the politicians deceive us. The elections is not about whether you are Ashanti or you are Ewe. The elections should be that whether the people of Ghana can have control over their resources, can exploit those resources for their own benefit”.

He also asked that they vote for someone who will provide quality education for all irrespective of the region the beneficiaries come from.

Slamming the Akufo-Addo government for doing a 'shoddy job' on the educational sector, Mr Pratt quizzed, “what is the point of providing free education to children who have no pencils, who have no exercise books, who have no chairs and desks?”

In his view, it is an insult for the government to provide free education for Ghanaians when others in remote areas do not have the capacity to provide the basic materials needed for learning.

He added that there was no point for the introduction of free education when some students lie on the floor to seek knowledge because of the lack of infrastructure in their communities.
