Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawmia is expected to chair the first police council meeting under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government today Tuesday July 26, 2017, Minister of Interior Ambrose P. Dery has revealed.

Top on the agenda of today’s meeting is about the recent gunning down of police officers by suspected armed robbers and measures in place to ensure that the police deliver on their mandate of protecting lives and properties, he hinted.

He admitted that the police are constraint in terms of logistic explaining that the meeting will among other things address these challenges tying that to the Chinese deal secured by the vice President to retool the Ghana Police Service.

“All these security agencies have been inadequately resourced for a number of years. It is in that vein the vice President went out to China and has come with some grant he wants to apply to equip the place. One has to do with the movement, second has to do with the weapons, third has to do other equipment such as the protective and then above all the training, to know how to use it when and how. All those things were promised in the manifesto and we are working together to get it done”, he revealed.
