Candidates, supporters, and political watchers have taken to social media to react to the final ballot positions for Ghana’s 2024 presidential election.
On Friday, 20 September 2024, the Electoral Commission of Ghana conducted a balloting event to determine the position of presidential candidates on the ballot paper for the December 7 election.
The event, held at the headquarters of the EC in Accra, was without incident, although some political parties and candidates raised various objections over the process.
Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate, walked out of the event after objecting to the decision by the EC to ballot registered political party candidates above independent candidates.
The opposition National Democratic Congress, on the other hand, raised concerns over the integrity of the balloting.
The event, however, proceeded after several heated arguments before the final ballot positions were determined.
The final ballot for all 13 qualified candidates is as follows:
Mahamudu Bawumia - New Patriotic Party (NPP) - #1
Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr - Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) - #2
Akua Donkor - Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) - #3
Christian Kwabena Andrews - Ghana Union Movement (GUM) - #4
Kofi Akpaloo - Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) - #5
Mohammed Frimpong - National Democratic Party (NDP) - #6
Nana Akosua Frimpomaa - Convention People's Party (CPP) - #7
John Dramani Mahama - National Democratic Congress (NDC) - #8
Hassan Abdulai Ayariga - All People's Congress (APC) - #9
Kofi Korateng - Independent Candidate - #10
George Twum-Barima-Adu - Independent Candidate - #11
Nana Kwame Bediako - Independent Candidate - #12
Alan Kyerematen - Independent Candidate - #13

I want to see how they will go to Kumasi and educate their base that breaking the 8 doesn’t mean they should put their thumb on the candidate with 8 next to his face lol.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia no. 1 = it's possible

If Bawumia came there and said the same things Cheddar said they’ll adjourn the meeting and escort him to the washroom. Hypocrites parading as “honorables” https://t.co/S2iQ6K0qNb

In all these, my worry is what the NPP will do with the 3million pieces of T-shirt printed with the caption “Breaking the 8” 😂😂😂😂

NPP slogan breaking the 8 will be the most famous during 2024 election and will be easy for Dr Bawumia #1 to break the 8.
— Nana Kwasi (@KWASIOSEITUTU1) September 20, 2024
Dr Bawumia will be the first (#1) candidate to break the 8. NDC will be promoting NPP breaking the 8 for Dr Bawumia free of charge.
Wait oo how NPP go convince wanna mommies that breaking the 8 doesn’t mean vote for #8. pic.twitter.com/oCANljN7zT

— Frimpong Benny (@frimpong30) September 20, 2024
The NDC could’ve come liar the process was not fair
After all their agitation they still couldn’t get their choice
What is written is written
No.1 is unique
Bawumia is indeed the chosen one

The number 8 would have sold NPP's message better and likewise the number 1 would have better sold NDC's message. Just imagine Bawumia breaking the 8.
