A video sighted by GhanaWeb has shown how the Bawumia campaign received news of the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate being placed in the 1st position on the 2024 election ballot paper.
Joined by key party officials on his campaign bus, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was beaming with smiles, sang along to a rendition of Kwabena Kwabena’s "Number One," a hit song composed by the highlife artiste for then-candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the 2016 general election.
The Electoral Commission on Friday, September 20, 2024, held a balloting event for the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia, following the process, placed first on the ballot while his main contender, former President John Dramani Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress, placed 8th.
Supporters of both parties, as well as other candidates, have since been giving their own interpretations to the ballot arrangement and its impact on the polls.
