A 26-year-old electrician has been remanded into police custody after allegedly obtaining a man's nude photographs and videos without his consent and demanding GH¢3,000 to prevent their publication on social media.
The accused, identified as Osei Kofi Agyemang, popularly known as Iron Boy, appeared before the Nsuta Circuit Court in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Presiding judge, His Lordship Simon Nketiah Gagah, ordered his remand as police continued investigations into the alleged sextortion case.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Kofi Owusu Kodua told the court that the complainant, Fadlu Muntala, a plumber residing at Agona, had three old hard drives containing his private nude photographs and videos.
According to the prosecution, the incident began about three months ago when Muntala's brother, Bashiru, alias Teacher, requested one of the hard drives to use in his computer system unit.
The complainant subsequently instructed his brother to take one of the drives from his room.
However, the prosecution alleged that Agyemang, who is a friend of Bashiru, later visited his room and accessed the computer without authorisation, downloading the complainant's intimate photographs and videos from a folder stored on the system.
The alleged blackmail came to light on October 22, 2026, when Muntala received a WhatsApp message from a phone number believed to belong to the accused.
The sender allegedly demanded GH¢3,000 and threatened to circulate the complainant's nude videos on social media if he failed to pay.
Alarmed by the message, Muntala reportedly checked his brother's computer and discovered that his private photographs and videos had been stored on the hard drive installed in the system unit.
His brother subsequently disclosed that Agyemang had visited his room to transfer movies from the computer onto a pen drive.
The complainant then compared the telephone number used to send the threatening WhatsApp message with the accused's number and allegedly established that they were the same.
The prosecution told the court that Bashiru subsequently led his brother to Agyemang's residence at Akrofonso, where they apprehended him and handed him over to the Agona Police Station for a formal complaint.
Police later took over the case, re-arrested the suspect and commenced investigations.
During a search of the accused's room, investigators reportedly retrieved several electronic devices and storage accessories, including an Apple laptop, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, an iPhone 7, a Samsung mobile phone, an iPhone 5C, two black external hard drives, two pen drives and two memory cards.
A subsequent examination of the recovered items allegedly uncovered an 11-minute-and-four-second nude video of the complainant stored on one of the memory cards.
The court was further informed that the alleged threats had left Muntala emotionally distressed since October 22, affecting his daily activities.
With investigations still ongoing, the accused's plea was not taken.
The court has adjourned the case to November 10, 2026, for Agyemang to take his plea.
The accused remains on remand pending further proceedings.
