The late Javits Frimpong was captured running away from one of his attackers
CCTV footage of the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Ghanaian-American Javits Frimpong in the Bronx, New York, has surfaced on social media, particularly on X.
The footage, reportedly recorded in the early hours of Thursday, October 29, 2026, at about 8:01 am, appears to capture the moments leading up to Frimpong’s shooting, including his movements and those of his alleged attackers.

The footage, shared on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on October 30, 2026, shows Frimpong running away while being chased by someone who initially appears to be a young boy of about the same height as him.
The unidentified individual was dressed in black joggers and a hoodie, which covered his head. He was also wearing a face mask.
Frimpong is seen running across the street as the suspected attacker pursues him. However, the individual later stops chasing him and turns back.
Other angles of the CCTV footage show additional teenagers, two of them believed to have been involved in the shooting, on the opposite side of the street. They are also seen running in Frimpong's direction.
Narration that accompanied the CCTV footage indicated that police are reviewing the incident to apprehend the suspects who are currently at large.
“This is the chilling surveillance video that detectives are reviewing right now in the Bronx. You see, wearing the red, that is 15-year-old Javits Frimpong. He was running for his life, being chased by a teenager wearing all black.
“Other surveillance video shows two other teenagers across the street. He was shot right around the corner from his house. His father says he was on his way to school around 9.20 in the morning,” the narrator said.
About the incident
According to reports, the teenager was shot in the abdomen while walking near a school on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. near East 171st Street and Crotona Place in the Claremont neighbourhood of the Bronx.

Police officers rushed the teenager to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have launched a manhunt for three teenage boys, believed to be between the ages of 16 and 18, who are suspected of being connected to the shooting.
The fatal shooting occurred just around the corner from the apartment where Javits lived with his father, 60-year-old Thomas Frimpong.
