A former NPP presidential hopeful, Dr Arthur K. Kennedy, has called for a commission to investigate all corruption cases under the fourth republic in order to find a lasting solution to the menace.

He said from the beginning of the 4th republic to date, there has been several corruption cases and no matter how clean a president is, it is possible for him to lead a government that is riddled with corruption.

“Every patriotic Ghanaian accepts that there is too much corruption in our government and that every government from Rawlings to Nana Addo under the 1992 constitution has faced challenges with corruption.”

“By saying that I don’t say every individual who has been in every government has been corrupt but I’m saying every government has had significant charges of corruption and I believe for the avoidance of doubt that even an honest president can preside over a corrupt government,” he added.

The leading NPP member further called for partisanship to be taken out of discussions on corruption as that does not help the country in anyway.

“Without dealing with corruption Ghana will never move forward, let us stop the partisanship, let us come together and let us deal with corruption as a nation so that our country can move forward.”

Dr Arthur Kennedy believes all former presidents have a role to play in ending corruption in the country.

“I urge that all the former presidents join in encouraging President Nana Akufo-Addo to set up a presidential commission that will investigate all corruption under all governments under the fourth republic… and come with far-reaching recommendations that can be supported by all.”

Dr Arthur Kennedy made these comments while reacting to the Airbus scandal in a video sighted by GhanaWeb.
