The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported a fatal road crash that claimed one life at Adansi Akrokerri junction on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
According to a GNFS statement issued on December 3, 2025, the accident occurred at about 15:19 hours.
A rescue team from the Fomena Fire Station, led by LFM Boateng, responded promptly after receiving a distress call.

Preliminary investigations disclosed that wrongful overtaking by an Obuasi-bound Hyundai minivan with registration number AS 8655-20 resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming Kumasi-bound Hyundai truck (AS 3948-24).
“Preliminary findings indicate that wrongful overtaking by the Obuasi bound Hyundai minivan (AS 8655-20) led to a head-on collision with an oncoming Kumasi bound Hyundai truck (AS 3948-24)”, the statement said.
Two occupants of the truck sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital. The driver of the minivan, however, died on the spot.
Firefighters later extricated the deceased and handed the body over to the Jacobu District Police.

Both vehicles suffered severe frontal damage. The impact forced the Hyundai truck off the road and into a ditch.
The GNFS used the statement to caution motorists against wrongful overtaking and urged strict adherence to road traffic regulations to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through rapid and professional emergency response.
