Hearts of Oak skipper Fatawu Mohammed has been handed a late call up to the Black Stars for the 2021 AFCON qualifier with South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe following the withdrawal of Harrison Afful due to injury.
Fatawu was part of Ghana’s Black Stars B team that won bronze at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal.
There were reports earlier that former Kotoko defender Samuel Inkoom had been called to replace Afful but further checks have revealed that the Hearts of Oak man was preferred by Coach Kwasi Appiah.
Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah will also miss the service of Deportivo Alaves combative striker Mubarak Wakaso who also picked an injury.
Wakaso had a wrist surgery and our source indicates that he will not be coming for the game.
Ghana will begin camping on Sunday.
The Black Stars will host the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Thursday and play Sao Tome and Principe four days later.
