Ghanaians have been challenged to rise up in arms in order to fight the so-called powerful Chinese expatriates claiming to have influence over authority in the country in the pursuit of illegal mining.

A 31-year- old Chinese woman , Aisha Haung said to be behind the booming illegal mining in the country claims to have connections at the seat of government making her untouchable by security operatives who have been mandated to crackdown on galamsey in the country.

But the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region and anti -illegal mining advocate, Joseph Albert Quarm wants Ghanaians to collaborate with the security agencies in the fight against the menace.

“Nobody is above the law. Who is this Aisha in the first place? She should have been arrested long time ago. We should let her know that the laws of this country will deal with her”

Aisha Huang who also goes by the names ‘Galamsey Queen and Yaa Asantewaa” is married to a Ghanaian therefore unlikely to be deported from the country.

Joseph Albert Quarm revealed that he has come under several threats from illegal miners from his constituency just because of his unrelenting stance against the practice which is affecting the environment.

Meanwhile the Criminal High court presided over by Justice Charles Edward Ekow Baiden on Tuesday May 9, 2017 remanded into prison custody the popular 31-year-old Aisha Huang.

She was remanded by the court alongside five other Chinese male nationals and are expected to reappear on the 23rd of May.

According to the judge, Justice Edward Ekow Baiden, he granted the plea by the Immigration asking for them to be remanded for further investigations because he did not believe the suspects will make themselves available if granted bail.
