The Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates and party members to intensify their efforts in the run-up to the 2024 elections.

He urged them to campaign vigorously to secure decisive victories in both the presidential and parliamentary races.

Addressing the challenges faced by the current Akufo-Addo administration due to the near-equal number of seats in Parliament, Afenyo-Markin stressed the importance of avoiding a repeat of this situation under a potential Bawumia presidency.

He highlighted the difficulties of governing with such a slim majority and underscored the need for a stronger parliamentary presence.

"Fight for this party the way you fight to save a sister or mother. We need our numbers in Parliament," Afenyo-Markin emphasized.

"Don't give up, let us work together. To our parliamentarians, I say kudos to all of you. I thank you for your support through your steadfastness and resilience, although we have a very tight parliament. We have a majority of one, but we have a few months ahead of us. I want to encourage you to please make yourself available to support the course of government. Let's finish strong. There is a prize awaiting us," Afenyo-Markin stated.

He urged parliamentary candidates to move beyond internal disputes and focus on aggressive campaigning.

"Enough of the reconciliation. Move on, fight hard, campaign day and night, and go to every household. We don't have time to settle disputes," he rallied.

He also expressed confidence in Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the NPP flagbearer, highlighting his potential to contribute to Ghana's transformation despite attempts by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to label him as arrogant.
