The Founder and President of Concerned Voters Movement (CVM), Razak Kojo Opoku, has called on persons aspiring for the positions of both National Youth Organiser and National Nasara Coordinators in the NPP, to come up with solutions and innovative managerial strategies to deal with vigilantism and hooliganism amongst some youth of the party.
According to him, since the NPP took power from the NDC, from January 2017 till date, 18 vigilantism have been reported by the media.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Razak Opoku who is a strong supporter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said the aspirants and their campaign team members are only focusing on sharing pictures on social media platforms without giving meaningful messages that can address the concerns of the teeming youth of the party at all levels.
"The NYO and Nasara Coordinator aspirants should demonstrate to the leadership of the party and Ghanaians that they have the capacities to educate, motivate and inspire the youth to refrain from acts of hooliganism and vigilantism," he advised.
He added that, irrespective of the good works of the President's administration, if the NPP does not support the government to address the issues of hooliganism and vigilantism amongst the youth of the party, it will affect the electoral fortunes of the party in the 2020 general elections.
He said, "The Youth of the NPP should be guided by the motto of the Party which is ‘Development in Freedom’. The motto of NPP is absolutely not Development in Hooliganism & Vigilantism. Ghanaians want to enjoy the excellent policies of President Akufo-Addo in Freedom as depicted in the motto of NPP. The Acting National Chairman, Acting General Secretary, National Youth Organizer and Nasara Coordinator of the NPP should do everything possible to create effective coordination systems between Party's Structures, appointees of government and the youth of the party to end hooliganism and Vigilantism currently associated with the Youth Wing of the Party because it is creating an embarrassing situation for the NPP Government.”
“The good policies of President Akufo-Addo's Government actually zipped the mouth of Agya-Incompetent Mahama but now because of the series of chaos and anarchy that has characterized the 10 months reign of NPP Government as a result of the indiscipline of some Youth of the Party, incompetent Mahama now has the audacity to wade into the issues at stake. Let’s not give a disappointed and a failed President John Mahama & the NDC the opportunity to speak against President Akufo-Addo and NPP government,” he advised.
