The former director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, Mr. Kwaku Mortey Akpadzi has dismissed allegations of fraud made against him by anti-corruption campaigner and whistle-blower Cudjoe Akpabey.
Mr. Akpadzi is being accused of misappropriating state funds and still using state vehicles several months after his retirement.
Starr News has gathered that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has commenced investigations into the allegations.
In a petition to the Presidency, Mr. Akpabey is asking that the former EOCO boss be disqualified from the NDC parliamentary primaries, arrested and prosecuted.
But in an interview with Starr News, Mr. Akpadzi said the allegations are without basis and must be ignored.
“I don’t want to use some words on Akpabey… treat him with contempt,” Mr. Akpadzi said.
He added that any question regarding EOCO vehicles must be referred to the new EOCO boss.
“EOCO now has a boss, if there are any issues with EOCO assets, I am not the proper person to ask because I am no more the boss of EOCO”.
