The Ghana Police Service has announced changes in 11 Command positions to ensure effective management and operational control of the Service.
This was issued in a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) David Eklu, the Director General in charge of Public Affairs, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday.
The changes, which take effect immediately, saw the Commissioner of Police (COP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare, the Director General in charge of Operations, being reassigned as Director General in charge of Research and Planning, while COP Christian Tetteh Yuhuno, the Director General, Special Duties, is now the Director General of Police Intelligence Directorate.
COP Reverend David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin has been reassigned as the Director General in charge of Special Duties from his former position as the Central Regional Commander, while DCOP George Tuffuor, the Takoradi Regional Commander moves to head the Volta Regional Command.
The statement said DCOP Simon Afeku, the Eastern Regional Commander, is now the Director General in charge of Operations, while Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Paul Manly Awuni, the Director General of Private Security Operations (PSO), is to head the Central Regional Command.
DCOP Alphonse Adu Amankwa, Commander of the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) in the Ashanti Region, has been moved to head the Eastern Regional Command, while DCOP Nana Asomah Hinneh, the Volta Regional Commander, is now the Head of the Takoradi Regional Command.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba in charge of the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards (PIPS), is now the Director General of National Operations and ACP Anderson Fosu-Achaah, Commander of Police Academy in Accra has been moved to head the Central MTTU in the Ashanti Region.
ACP Eric Winful, in charge of National Operations, is now the Head of Project Unit at the Headquarters, the statement said.
