Ghana and Oman need to improve relations-Kufuor

Accra, Jan.27, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday stressed the need for Ghana and Oman to strengthen and improve on relationship between them for their mutual benefit.

He said both countries could take advantage of the opening of air links by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Ghana to promote trade and other economic ventures between them.

President Kufuor made the call when receiving the Letters of Credence from Mr Ahmed Bin Nassar Al Mahrizi, Ambassador of Oman to Ghana and resident in Algiers at the Castle, Osu.

Mr Al Mahrizi is also accredited to Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Gabon. President Kufuor said the distance between Algiers and Accra should not be a barrier in the performance of his duties but pay regular visit to strengthen the relationship between them. Mr Al Mahrizi said the government of Oman had much confidence in the government of Ghana and would ensure the necessary assistance was provided for her development.

Private Sector of UAE urged to take advantage of AGOA in Ghana-Kufuor

Accra, Jan.27, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday appealed to the private sector of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to take advantage of the African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) status of Ghana and establish businesses in Ghana.

He said they could take advantage of the positioning of Ghana, the free quota and tariffs under AGOA and the four flights a week by the UAE airlines to Accra to establish their businesses.

President Kufuor made the appeal when receiving the Letters of Credence of Mr Ahmed Ali Nasr Al Meel Al Zaabi, Ambassador of the UAE resident in Cairo, Egypt at the Castle, Osu.

He said many Ghanaian entrepreneurs had used Dubai as their destination for business and would be appropriate for them to undertake joint ventureship with their Ghanaian counterparts to take advantage of the congenial atmosphere in the country.

Mr Al Zaabi said with the support and leadership of President Kufuor, relationship between both countries would be strengthened and fruitful for their mutual benefit.
