The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, a.k.a. Chairman Wontumi, has asserted that Ghana is currently developing faster than European countries.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, however, noted that the main challenge for Ghana has been political parties being booted out of government every eight years.

Wontumi, who made these remarks at a UK Town Hall meeting over the weekend while touting the policies of the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, added that the only way Ghana can make progress in its development process is if it retains one political party in power for a long time.

"The policies our Flagbearer, our party leader and vice president is bringing have never been seen before in any part of the world. From my experience living in the UK and Ghana, I can confidently say that Ghana is changing faster than Europe.

"However, the problem we have is that from 1992 to now – the 4th Republic – it has been NDC, NPP. And so, after eight years, the party in government is changed for the other party to take over. Ghana will never develop unless we keep one political party in power for a long time before we can have a big transformation to develop our country," he said.

He explained that when the party forming the government is changed, the transition to any government takes at least two years, which means that during that period, there is no development.
