President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo may soon have to rescind his decision to still cruise around town in his old BMW 2007 model as a section of Ghanaians have expressed their displeasure at that decision.

A section of people the Ghanaian Observer spoke to when it sought their opinions at the Kaneshie and 37 trotro stations, suggested that it was both demeaning and insecure for the President to cruise in town in a ten year old vehicle which the State Transport Corporation (STC), the official vehicle valuer would write off.

“My brother, let me tell you, even me as an artisan would not use a ten year old car. I wonder if the electronic diagnostic machine would identify any mechanical fault when it is sent for servicing because it is older than the diagnostic machine”, Prosper Agbey told the Ghanaian Observer yesterday at Kaneshie.

The responses were almost the same at the 37 station where most of the respondents appealed to President Akufo-Addo to rescind his decision.

It would be recalled that Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin recently said over 200 official cars were nowhere to be found at the seat of government, Flagstaff House.

The cars, which he said were part of the presidential pool of official vehicles, are missing from the Flagstaff House garage.

Subsequently, he said, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been forced to use a 2007 model of a saloon car within Accra.

“President Akufo-Addo is currently using a 2007 BMW model purchased by the state during the Ghana@ 50 celebrations. That is what he is using. So where are the cars?” he questioned.
