The Ghana Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS) has called on international bodies to make a deliberate effort to immortalize former UN General Secretary, Kofi Annan.
According to the thinktank, the late Kofi Annan’s memory will be more felt on the global stage in international bodies such as the UN, African Union and European Union institute programmes and awards in his name.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, David Agbee, GIGS said “Beyond the unanimous international acclaim bestowed on him, Kofi Annan needs to be immortalized through a deliberate effort by all international bodies who have benefited from the services of the late global peace development and peace icon”.
“We urge all international bodies to set up structures to immortalize his memory so as to inspire generations unborn to emulate his noble qualities,” the statement added.
The late Kofi Annan who was the seventh UN General Secretary passed away in Bern, Switzerland on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
