A Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has described the acts of violence allegedly being orchestrated by some youth believed to be members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as ‘State-Sponsored terrorism’.

His comments come on the heels of the 18th act of hooliganism carried out by pro-NPP supporters in Karaga in the Northern Region.

The group stormed a police station to forcibly free two of its arrested members and also vandalised an office belonging to the party. It also torched a motorbike.

The chaos was in connection with their accusation of the YEA Director of the region that he discriminated against them in a job recruitment exercise.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Friday, October 27, Mr Anyidoho said: “These actions begun like joke but it is getting out of hands. What is happening now is evidence that Nana Akufo-Addo has rendered the state security apparatus impotent. The political will to deal with violence is not there.

“The President ordered the vigilante groups should be dealt, what has happened? It has gotten worse. The freedom fighter and the human rights activist, Nana Kufo-Addo, governing like this.”

He added: “These actions are state-sponsored terrorism, state-sponsored destruction of state properties and the religious community is quiet, the civil society is quit because their government is in power. Where is IMANI Ghana? Where the CSOs…today their party is in power and so they are all quiet.”
