Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful will serve a one-match suspension after his sending off against Orlando City in the MLS last Saturday.
The right back received a straight red card in the 77th minute for violent conduct.
There was a foul incident that was not too clear, compelling the referee to order for a video review of the incident on the 74th minute.
The Video Review resulted in a red card and the match resumed with a free kick.
Crew have confirmed that the Ghana international will not be available for their midweek home match against LA Galaxy.
Afful was making his 17th league appearance for the Blood and Gold this season.
Last season, a video review had a similar red card decision Afful rescinded after Columbus Crew appealed the decision of the referee.
The Ghanaian defender was controversially sent off in Columbus Crew’s 1-1 draw with DC United at the Mapfre Stadium.
Crew played the final 16-plus minutes of the MLS clash a man down because of a straight red card shown to fullback Afful for a studs-showing challenge on Marcelo Sarvas.
Replays showed the defender did not make contact with the DC United midfielder as his foot drove through the ball.
Sarvas, who then stepped on Afful, helped sell the call by hobbling about after the two players met.
