A torrential rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, has torn off the roofs of the main classroom blocks of the Seventh Day Adventist Basic School at Bechem, located in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region.

The devastating incident, which occurred on March 27, 2025, has severely impacted both the primary and junior high school buildings.

This has raised concerns among school authorities, local stakeholders, and residents, who fear that academic activities will be disrupted in the coming days unless urgent interventions are implemented.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tano South Municipal Education Directorate, Prince Agyemang Dua, expressed deep concern over the extent of the damage and its dire consequences on the school’s activities, as both pupils and teachers will be left without suitable learning spaces.

"This is a huge setback for us because several classrooms have been destroyed, and both teachers and pupils will struggle to carry out effective academic work under these conditions in the coming days," he lamented.

Prince Agyemang Dua has, therefore, made a passionate appeal to the Parents Teacher Association, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and other benevolent institutions to support the school by providing financial assistance, roofing materials, or any other necessary resources to help re-roof the damaged classroom blocks.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member of the area, Joseph Appiah, has assured residents that necessary measures are being put in place to ensure academic work is not disrupted.
