Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium, a political activist based in Kumasi, has cautioned Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also known as Chairman Wontumi, to refrain from threatening to banish Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye from the Ashanti region.

According to Appiah Stadium, COP Kofi Boakye has deep roots in the Ashanti Region, as both his parents are from Kumasi, unlike Wontumi, whose parents are not originally from the area.

He urged Wontumi to stop his attacks on Boakye.

In an interview on Angel TV shared on social media, Appiah Stadium remarked, “We are left with a few days to vote, and I have told Wontumi to desist from his attacks on Kofi Boakye.

“Whether we like it or not, this year the person who will become president will be a northerner. Mahama is a northerner, and Bawumia is a Northerner. We, the outsiders who have come to make life, are threatening people. Kofi Boakye’s mother and father come from Kumasi. For him, whose mother and father come from this place, you are threatening him. Meanwhile, you, Wontumi, you are not from here. Let us prioritise our Ashanti region.”

Chairman Wontumi recently alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is planning to recruit individuals to instigate violence during the elections, but he insists that the plan will not succeed.

He warned that if any gunshots are fired on election day, potentially endangering lives, COP Kofi Boakye would be banished from the Ashanti Region.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman declared that the party’s supporters would confront any individuals attempting to incite chaos during the elections.

“Those who are being bribed by the NDC to instigate violence should forget about it because they cannot do anything. Kofi Boakye was a COP here, but I showed him something small. That man is a nation wrecker. So, those who have been hired, I want you to know that if a single gunshot is fired, I will banish Kofi Boakye from the Ashanti Region.

"On December 7, 2024, after casting your ballot, stay at the polling station, don’t leave. If you see people on motorbikes coming with the intention of causing violence, react appropriately,” Chairman Wontumi said during a campaign rally.

This marks the second time Wontumi has issued a warning to the retired COP, previously threatening to place him under citizen's arrest if he is found culpable of influencing people to engage in election violence.
