IMANI Africa's Founder and President, Franklin Cudjoe, has expressed his belief in the third defendant in the ambulance trial, Richard Jakpa's allegations regarding the trial in court concerning Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

According to him, he has complete confidence in Jakpa's assertion that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, exerted pressure on the AG to ensure Ato Forson's imprisonment due to his involvement in the ambulance case.

Cudjoe remarked that despite the president and former finance minister's influence, he considers Dame to be a vindictive and wicked individual who is seeking Ato Forson's ruin by any means necessary.

“The AG says he was pressured by the President and former Finance Minister to use all foul means to jail the Minority leader. I believe him, but he is more vindictive, wicked and a willing team player in dishing out cold justice. Demons!” he wrote on X.

This follows allegations by the third defendant, Richard Jakpa, in the ambulance trial that in a discussion with the AG, Dame purportedly confirmed that President Akufo-Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta were pressuring him to secure Ato Forson's conviction.

“Jakpa further avers that Godfred Dame has told him that the reason for his inclusion in the prosecution is to mask the real intention behind the whole trial.

“And that, he instituted the instant action, because the President of the Republic and then Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, were mounting pressure on him to persecute the then ranking Member for Finance and now Minority Leader, Hon. Ato Forson,” the document sent to the court said.

In the wake of Ghana's hung parliament, where no party has full control in the law-making chamber, some analysts have insisted that the prosecution of Ato Forson and other NDC MPs is intended to give the governing party an edge in parliament.
