While some NPP members are seriously lobbying for positions in the new government about to be formed on January 7th 2017, Kennedy Akompreko Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central has downplayed the idea of vying for any ministerial position in Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo’s government.

According to him, a ministerial position will not allow him the free hand to attend to his businesses, a situation which he says will collapse them.

Even before the NPP government is sworn in, people are using the traditional and social media to lobby for positions from the over 500 appointments Nana Addo’s government will be making.

Already, there are names going circulating on social media, suggestion people and positions that they are likely to occupy in the new government.

But speaking on Adom TV on Tuesday, Kennedy Agyapong said his interest is to remain a private business man and create jobs for thousands of people, since that has been his achievement.

“As a minister, you cannot travel on your own, you always have to ask permission from the President and I can’t afford that as a business man, it will destroy my businesses”, he explained.

“I will stay back as a private business man and I know I can effect change in people’s lives”, he added.

He therefore seized the opportunity to advice those lucky enough to get positions, not to engage in corrupt practices but use their positions to better Ghana and change lives.

The Assin Central MP noted that the continuous celebrations by Ghanaians everywhere show that Ghanaians were in bondage and are now celebrating their freedom, hence the NPP government under Nana Addo cannot afford to fail them.
