Former President John Dramani Mahama has waded into recent praise for the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC).
The facility has scored big praise on social media after it became a key referral center for some public personalities including Kuami Eugene and KK Fosu when they got involved in separate accidents.
A video has also been circulated recently of a lady who visited the facility and posted a good review about services and staff at the place.
In an X post dated June 14, 2024, Mahama said he had seen the good reviews and that they excited him.
"Whenever I visit patients in hospitals or read reviews on people’s lived experiences at the UGMC, I feel proud of our work in government. I am poised to do more.
"My track record in infrastructure development is well acknowledged. We shall provide more. It is a track record that built the Ghana National Gas Company and many power plants to fix dumsor.
"It is a solid track record of building ultramodern hospitals such as the UGMC, the Ridge Hospital, the Bank Hospital, the Maritime Hospital, the Dodowa Hospital, and several others across the country," the post concluded.
About UGMC:
The processes for the establishment of the Centre were commenced by the Education, Finance and Health Ministries and the commercial contract was ultimately signed by the Ministry of Health in November 2012.
The actual construction of the Centre was commenced during the tenure of late former Ghanaian President, His Excellency Professor John Evans Atta Mills in April 2013.
Phase I of the UGMC Project, which had the Sheba Medical Centre based in Israel as medical planning consultants to the project was inaugurated by former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Mahama in 2017.
Whilst awaiting the signing of the commercial agreement to kick-start Phase II of the Project, the Centre began partial operations in 2018 during the tenure of current president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
