I have not received any threats – Kiki Mordi

Investigative journalist behind BBC Africa Eye’s ‘Sex for Grades’ documentary, Kiki Mordi has debunked reports that her life is being threatened by some unknown persons since the release of the exposé.

The reporter, in an interview with BBC News Pidgin, said she was surprised when she saw people tweet that her life was being threatened by some people.

“I surprise say I go twitter go see say pipo dey say pipo dey threaten my life. No! Nobody don threaten my life reach dis time,” she said.

She however mentioned that she understood people’s concern about her security first as a journalist and also as her exposé carried grave consequences for the perpetrators of the act.

“But I know say na risky job, people dey concern. I understand dia concern, I feel dia concern, I know say na risky job. Journalism na risky job but pesin gats do am,” she added

Kiki Mordi expressed pride in the fact that young African women are rising and fighting against sexual harassment in the universities.

“I dey proud of oursef as Nigerian women say we don stand up as Ghana women too, my sisters for Ghana say we don stand up say we no go accept sexual harassment for Nigerian universities again,” she said.
