The race to determine who leads the NDC into the 2020 elections has gotten keener with almost all 13 individuals who have expressed interest in leading the party taking their campaigns to the delegates.
Among those who have been seen going round to seek endorsement is the former NHIS boss Sylvester Mensah.
In his tour of the Upper East Region, Mr Mensah boasted to delegates that he had secured the backing of delegates in four other regions ahead of the elections in December.
The former NHIS boss asserted that despite that being important for his campaign, he can't win convincingly without the endorsement of delegates in the Upper East Region.
He thus called on them to back his campaign for flagbearership of the party come December 7.
He told party members in Zebilla that "I also want to share with you that there are four regions that have given me their support and full assurance. If these regions were enough perhaps I would have slept in Accra. It is so obvious that without your support in the Upper East Region, without your support in Zebilla, I can't become the flagbearer. I have come to appeal to you that when the time comes to vote for flagbearer pls consider Sylvester Mensah."
He touted his credentials and experience and argued that Ghana after experiencing people with military, communications, law and philosophy backgrounds "the time has come for a strategic management expert and a finance professional, Sylvester Mensah."
He cautioned against the use of vulgar words by the supporters of the various candidates including his, urging them to emulate the lead of the contenders.
He stressed that the focus is to come out stronger as a party ahead of the 2020 elections so that as a united front they will support whoever emerges candidate to victory 2020.
Expressing optimism, he charged them to give him their assurance for he will not disappoint them as their leader and flagbearer.
"I know if you give me your support and you add prayers to it, the good Lord, Allah will listen and I will emerge as the flagbearer of the NDC. I want to assure you if you give me the opportunity you will not regret it" he emphasised.
