The New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign manager for the 2012 elections, Boakye Agyarko has told Joy News he is ready to testify in the ongoing election petition hearing to challenge claims he endorsed the conduct of the polls as flawless.
Lawyer for President Mahama on Tuesday sought to discredit Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s claims of over voting by relying on the comments he said were made by Mr Agyarko during the 2012 polls.
Tony Lithur told the court that Mr. Agyako had attested to the flawless nature of the elections, a position which contradicted the party’s current posture that the poll was riddled with irregularities.
But speaking to Joy News Mr. Agyarko flatly denied the statements attributed to him; serving notice he is ready to testify to clear his name.
“Let me emphatically state that in the statement I issued and the following comments, at no point did I say that this is the cleanest elections or this is the fairest elections or this is the most transparent elections,” Mr Agyarko said.
"I did not use those words so the NDC in typical fashion is concocting words...
"I never said those things," he maintained.
Mr Agyarko said he is ready to testify in court to clear his name.
Meanwhile, the cross-examination of the NPP 2012 running mate Dr. Bawumia will continue this morning at the Supreme Court.
It is unclear if lawyers for the petitioners will bring up the issue of the comments alleged to have been made by the party’s campaign manager when the case is called.
