The divisions that have dogged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since the party was beaten by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 elections are continuing unabated.

The NDC Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Dr. Francis Dakura Bawaana, has also waded into the blame game and finger-pointing that have rocked the party since the defeat.

In an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Bawaana said that if he had his way, he would shoot some former aides of John Mahama, who he said contributed to Mahama's defeat with what he called their disrespectful and arrogant posturing.

He specifically mentioned Stan Dogbe, a former director of communications at the Flagstaff House. Bawaana said the behaviour of Dogbe and some of his colleagues made former President Mahama unapproachable by the grassroots of the party and left party members feeling disrespected.

He said they caused disenchantment between the president and people that could have volunteered crucial election-winning information from the grassroots.

"....some of those handlers... if I get I will shoot them. I’m being very honest. When you go to that area they are not correct. The way some of them treated people - and I’m one of them - I’m one of those that felt really badly treated by them. "...They were too arrogant around the president. I mean…Stan Dogbe was one of them. You go to see the president, they will ask you to go through somebody like Stan Dogbe, and he will block you. For what reason," he said.

He blamed Dogbe primarily for the situation, saying: "...where did this Stan Dogbe man come from? Where did he come from? Where did he come from?”
