The Minister of Trade and Industry, Kobina Tahir Hammond, widely known as KT Hammond, visited the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace recently.
During their conversations, Otumfuo encouraged the minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, to visit the palace whenever he has free time.
In response, KT Hammond humorously remarked that although he is known for being outspoken in the country, he cannot exhibit the same behavior in the presence of the Asantehene.
The MP recalled a time when he avoided visiting the Manhyia Palace due to its prestige, adding that it takes courage to appear there.
"Frankly speaking, if you are not courageous, you can't come here. For 25 years, I've been hiding around without coming here. People say I am loud in the country, but I have a limit, not here.
"I have been asking your own son [Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh], who is our incoming vice president, to come here but to no avail. So henceforth, I'll be coming around often," he said in Twi in a video shared on X.
While KT Hammond was speaking, Otumfuo laughed uncontrollably, amused by the MP's humorous remarks.
Afterwards, the two held hands and had a short conversation before KT Hammond departed the palace.
