An aspiring presidential candidate seeking to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has refuted claims of being the ‘Messiah’ of the party.
The aspiring candidate told Rainbow Radio87.5FM that, he has never said anywhere that he "is the Messiah’’ of the umbrella family.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah in an exclusive interview yesterday [Monday] indicated that, only Jesus Christ was and would continue to be the Messiah of the world.
"I never used the word Messiah in my entire life. I am not worthy to be called the Messiah because it was only Jesus Christ who was the Messiah. We are all sinners and so we cannot refer to ourselves as Messiahs.’’
The Publisher newspaper in its Monday’s edition published that, the aspiring candidate described himself as the Messiah of NDC but Dr. Spio-Garbrah says he never used the word and it was the editor of the paper who made us of the word. He also disclosed that after confronting the editor, he explained to him that, he chose the word Messiah because he [Editor] felt the responses given by him [Dr. Spio-Garbrah] made him look like the Messiah.
"I have worked in the church and served as Chief of Staff at the Action Chapel and I can confidently state that, not even Bishops can use the word Messiah to describe themselves.’’
