Disqualified presidential nominee of the Independent People’s Party (IPP) Kofi Akpaloo is threatening to seek a Court order to nullify the outcome of the December 7 polls if his name does not appear on the ballot paper.

He threatened to sue the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) if it fails to add his name on the ballot paper to be part of the presidential race.

‘I will ensure the December 7 election is nullified if my name doesn’t appear on the ballot, because my rights have been abused, that is the law. She has no power to disqualify me and take my name off the ballot paper. I am sending a signal that the EC has no power to take my name off the ballot paper, I will surely contest the presidential race,’ he cautioned.

Mr. Akpaloo who on Tuesday sued the EC was part of 13 presidential candidates who were disqualified weeks ago for failing the needed requirement.

An angry presidential hopeful said the Chairperson of the Commission has no power to disqualify him and that can only be done through a ruling by a Court.

He said Mrs Osei lacks knowledge about the electoral law hence her hostile decision to disqualify them without giving them the opportunity to rectify the anomalies.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, Mr Akpaloo wondered if the EC Chair is oblivious that the candidates are not super humans who can make mistakes.

‘Charlotte Osei doesn’t know her work, else she wouldn’t have taken this posture, she behaves as if she has personal issues with people. She is being arrogant. I don’t think she understands and has been working with the law. Is that how we work, you don’t give us any opportunity to make amends.

The proof of disqualification should come from the Court, the Court has the only power to do so. Which Court proved that some of us engaged in fraudulent activities? Nobody has bad intention to make a smart move on the EC by engaging in fraudulent activities. It was an oversight. Charlotte does not represent Court. Charlotte cannot use her position to shatter our ambitions,’ he said.

Akpaloo who is currently campaigning in the Volta region called on the electorate to vote massively for him to win power.
