National Women's Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Soso, has expressed her interest in any bidding process for complete possession of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
As to whether the NPP party is being auctioned is not known yet, but Anita has categorically stated that she is interested in buying the opposition “Elephant” party. According to her, the NPP party over the years is being run by individuals who are well-heeled and can dictate to it, so securing “ownership” of the party will make her quite influential despite being an NDC member.
“If you don’t have money…you are a nonentity in the NPP party. They have sold their conscience to the highest bidder,” she said.
Her comment comes after the NPP Ashanti Regional Executives elected business mogul and former Bosomtwe constituency chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako also known as “Chairman Wontumi” as the party’s Chairman for the Ashanti Region.
To her, Wontumi’s donation of a three-storey building to the party for use as its Ashanti Regional Head Office complex was just to “show-off” just as “outspoken NPP MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong does in the party”.
“Now the battle is between Chairman Wontumi and Kennedy Agyapong. They are the richest in the NPP now and can issue orders and threaten anyone as and when they so desire,” she said.
Anita De Soso further described the NPP as a “Moneycracy” political party.
“They should be very careful with that mentality…There is no discipline in the NPP now,” she opined.
Speaking on Adom FM, Madam De Soso lamented “Now NPP is for sale…the highest bidder will own NPP. I am ready to buy NPP…I will offer them one million dollars ($1m). NPP has taken politics to the lowest level and it's shameful”.
